Hands-On Heroes
Hands-On Heroes is a special recognition of dedicated individuals who embody the ideals outlined in the Children’s Bill of Rights for San Luis Obispo County, an aspirational framework endorsed by more than 50 local agencies since its creation in 2013. (Click here to learn more about the Rights)
First 5 SLO County and partner organizations began hosting the annual Hands-on Heroes Program back in 2010, to honor people who make a positive difference in the lives of our children and youth. Most recently, honorees have been selected monthly, and featured in the Central Coast Journal. While the campaign is currently on hiatus, there is plenty on which to reflect and build! As an example, 2022 highlighted the theme of Hands-on Heroes @Work... individuals and employers who truly reflect what it means to be “Family Friendly” – helping build stronger communities for all by supporting parents/providers in ways that allow them to better achieve a healthy, productive work-life balance.
