“I mentored someone with a high school diploma for 8 years; she became a gifted early education teacher, earning her Associate's degree, then Bachelor's along the way. She got her Bachelor’s degree in December and by January, she was a child development specialist in the public school system. In a year's time, she went from Section 8 housing, food stamps and subsidized child care (as an early education teacher) to purchasing her own home. Pre-K was her gift, but she had to make the decision that was best for her family."
